Relo Metrics Talent Spotlight - Paul Shortley

News & Updates   |   Jun 01, 2023   |  by Relo Metrics Team

Welcome Paul (3)-1

Meet our new Chief Revenue Officer, Paul Shortley!

Paul is a sales and marketing professional who has scaled and led high performing commercial teams in analytics, market research, advertising and marketing services. For the past decade he’s led high growth, global sales teams within Nielsen’s Marketing Effectiveness and Innovation practices and SensorTower, a mobile analytics SaaS start-up.

Born and raised in North San Diego, Paul lives with his wife Wendy, daughters Skyler and Piper and COVID puppy Sunny. He's a huge fan of all types of music, but his all time favorite is Rush. He's also a very big sports fan in general and, naturally so, very competitive--one of his goals is to avoid getting tossed out of his kid’s soccer matches for talking to the ref.

“Sponsorship is a $90 billion industry, yet most of the ecosystem are still not measuring sports marketing as they would other marketing channels such as TV. There is a lot of room to optimize performance and benefit rights holders, brands, publishers and advertising agencies. I believe Relo Metrics is uniquely positioned to deliver unmatched value to the category. I look forward to building a world class commercial team that enhances this optimization for Relo Metrics’ customers.”

Where did you grow up and what was it like?

I was born and raised in San Diego. As one might imagine, it was amazing to always be by the beach and many outdoor activities.

What is your favorite sport?

It has changed over time, but I watch Padres baseball with my 11-year-old daughter almost every day. Since COVID this has created a new connection for us.

Outside of work, what are you irrationally passionate about and what is something less known about yourself?

Padres Baseball, City Soccer Club (SC, my daughter’s competitive soccer club), Lofty Coffee, Good wine, Tom Ford, and Brunello Cuccinelli

What’s been the most exciting part about joining Relo Metrics?

I have a strong passion for sports marketing and lots of experience with measurement and analytics, so joining Relo scratches several itches for me.

Describe your superpower or describe what unique skill/perspective you bring to the team here.

I would have to say listening, relating, and teaching. I am passionate about helping the people around me reach their goals and achieve things they did not think possible.

What skill, practice, behavior, hobby, or habits are you currently working on?

I’ve worked on my golf game for the past several years, unfortunately to little avail.

What book, publication, or podcast have you most recommended lately and why?

The Challenger Sale, and also The Expansion Sale. I am a strong advocate of this sales process and implemented it multiple times as I believe it offers sellers a strong competitive advantage.
